“This is bigger than you think.” Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a German race-against-the-clock thriller called Sixty Minutes (oder 60 Minuten auf Deutsch), arriving in January for streaming on Netflix. 60 Minutes is an action-packed race against time. Leading actor and multi-talent Emilio Sakraya lets his fists fly as mixed martial arts fighter Octavio. MMA fighter Octavio has one hour to make it to his daughter’s birthday party across Berlin or he’ll lose custody forever. To reach her in time he turns down an important fight, which puts him in a dangerous position with some even more dangerous people. Of course. Suddenly Octavio isn’t only trapped in a ruthless race against time but also a chase through the entire city that pushes him to his limits. Also starring Dennis Mojen, Marie Mouroum, Paul Wollin, Aristo Luis, Morik Heydo, and Florian Schmidtke. This reminds me a lot of the Berlin classic Run Lola Run, a modern “but what if a MMA guy instead” Netflix remix. Unfortunately it looks bad, cheesier than it should be – watch out.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Oliver Kienle’s Sixty Minutes, direct from Netflix’s YouTube:
“Tick tock, boom!” Desperate not to lose custody, a mixed martial arts fighter makes dangerous enemies when he ditches a matchup to race to his daughter’s birthday party. Across Berlin in just one hour – or he risks losing custody forever. In order to get to his beloved daughter’s birthday party on time, Octavio not only skips an important fight, but also takes on the betting mafia. A spectacular race against time begins. The internationally successful actress and stuntwoman Marie Mouroum supports Octavio emotionally and forcefully as Cosima. The clock is ticking. Sixty Minutes, also known as 60 Minuten in German, is directed by the German filmmaker Oliver Kienle, director of the films Stronger Than Blood, Four Hands, and Isi & Ossi previously. The screenplay is written by Philip Koch, and co-written by Oliver Kienle. It’s produced by Philip Koch, Quirin Berg, Max Wiedemann, Maximilian Vetter. Netflix will debut Sixty Minutes streaming on Netflix worldwide starting on January 19th, 2024 coming soon next month. Who wants to watch this?
