“Where is that bastard?” Netflix has released this Korean action film streaming already. Ballerina is the latest film made by Korean filmmaker Chung-Hyun Lee. It premiered at the Busan Film Fest and launched for streaming on October 6th this fall. “Cold-hearted and cruel, the hell of merciless revenge begins now, for my one and only.” Grieving the loss of a best friend she couldn’t protect, an ex-bodyguard sets out to fulfill her dear friend’s last wish: sweet revenge. Jang Ok-ju is a former bodyguard who sets out to hunt down a sex trafficking ring headed by Choi Pro. Starring Jeon Jong-seo as Jang Ok-ju, with Kim Ji-hoon, Park Yu-rim, Shin Se-hwi, plus Kim Mu-yeol, Jang Yoon-ju, Kim Young-ok, and Joo Hyun. This reminds me of Kill Boksoon, another female-driven action film quietly dropped on Netflix earlier this year. Also not to be confused with the John Wick spin-off starring Ana de Armas also called Ballerina out next year. Enjoy.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Chung-Hyun Lee’s Ballerina, direct from Netflix’s YouTube:
“There’s something I need to do.” An exquisite revenge action thriller about a merciless ex-bodyguard Okju (Jun Jong-seo) who hunts down Choi (Kim Ji-hun), a man responsible for the death of her dear friend Minhee (Park Yu-rim). Ballerina, also known as 발레리나 in Korean, is both written and directed by Korean filmmaker Chung-Hyun Lee, making his second feature film after directing The Call previously, plus the series “Born to Spy”, and a few other short films. Produced by Choi Ji-young. Made by Climax Studio. This initially premiered at the 2023 Busan Film Festival in Korea. Netflix has already released Chung-Hyun Lee’s Ballerina streaming on Netflix starting on October 6th, 2023 – it’s available to watch now. Looking good?
