“As an artist, what scares you?” Giant Pictures has revealed the trailer for an indie rock horror thriller film titled Art of a Hit, made by filmmakers Gaelan Draper and Charlie Saxton. It’s set for a release on VOD in August in the US if you’re down to watch. With their careers on the line, a late-90s rock band journeys to a French chateau to record with an elusive super-producer. But as tensions rise and tempers flare, they realize they’re up against more than just the pressure to rock. Is he a demon or a vampire, or something like that? “Art of a Hit takes everything we love about the late ’90s and early 2000s rock scene and jams it into a wildly creepy castle in the most beautiful place on earth: Dordogne, France. It’s funny, scary, messed up and honest—a story about what it’s like to be in a band and the insane fears of trying to make it as an artist. If you love late 90s rock, if you loved being in a band, you will love Art of a Hit.” Starring Ryan Donowho, Charlie Saxton, Tim Jo, Rob Raco, James Earl, Allie MacDonald, David Valdes. The rock horror subgenre is growing, between this and Studio 666 and Ghost: Rite Here Rite Now. Take a look at this below.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Gaelan Draper’s film Art of a Hit, direct from YouTube:
Ryan (Ryan Donowho), the lead singer of a late-90s rock band is haunted by irrelevance and struggling to regain visibility a decade after the band’s prime time days. Charlie Dupont (Charlie Saxton), an eccentric super-producer, invites the band to his 1000-year-old French chateau to record a comeback album. But as tensions rise and tempers flare, Ryan and his bandmates eventually realize they’re up against more than just the pressure to succeed. Art of a Hit is directed by American indie filmmaker Gaelan Draper (aka Gaelan Connell), making his second feature after directing the film Blood, Sand and Gold previously and a few shorts. The screenplay is written by and the film is also produced by Charlie Saxton and Gaelan Draper. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Giant Pictures will debut Art of a Hit direct-to-VOD in the US starting August 20th, 2024 later this summer. Anyone want to watch this film?
