Sam Wineman Returns with Queer Psychological Thriller ‘HAG’ Premiering on Tubi: “Acclaimed filmmaker Sam Wineman (The Quiet Room) returns with HAG, a darkly witty and subversive obsession thriller set to premiere exclusively on Tubi on December 12, 2025. Wineman’s latest project not only redefines heteronormative horror, but also examines queerness and identity, encouraging viewers to rethink what it truly means to belong.

After a decade apart, aspiring musician Rowan’s luck seems to change when he rents his spare room to Mag, a self-proclaimed “hag” and his quirky childhood girlfriend. But as Mag’s infatuation with Rowan intensifies, their reunion spirals into a tense, life-or-death showdown. In a world where every relationship is transactional, Rowan quickly learns that keeping Mag happy isn’t just good manners, it’s a matter of survival.

Starring the American drag queen and singer-songwriter Adore Delano as Opal, Rowan’s sharp-tongued frenemy and coffee-slinging partner-in-crime at Teal Onyx Records, HAG weaves together ambition, fixation, and the price of belonging in the music industry’s underbelly.

“As a queer filmmaker, I wanted to explore what happens when the expected lead finds themselves on the margins,” says writer-director Sam Wineman. “HAG isn’t just about obsession; it’s about the discomfort of realizing you’re not the main character in someone else’s world. It’s both a twist on the genre and a meditation on belonging.”

By upending the traditional queer villain narrative, HAG offers a fresh perspective on the obsession genre. The film places its only straight character at the center of a deeply queer experience: being “othered.” And as Mag inserts herself into a vibrant community she doesn’t understand — armed with Will & Grace–style expectations — she is forced to confront her own outsider status as HAG challenges assumptions about who gets to be at the center of the story.”

Catch the exclusive premiere of HAG on Tubi, December 12, 2025.

Glass Eye Pix Releases Music Video “Tender” by Animator James Siewert for the band Just Desserts: “Glass Eye Pix is pleased to present the epic stop-motion music video “Tender” directed and animated over a year by long-time Glass Eye Pix artisan James Siewert, who has worked for the New York production shingle as cinematographer, editor, visual effects artist and animator.

“Tender” is a song written by Larry Fessenden, CEO of Glass Eye Pix, who has enjoyed a collaboration with singer-songwriter Tom Laverack since 1977. Over the years the two have released four albums, singles, EPs, and played out under the name Just Desserts in clubs such as CBGBs, Pyramid Club, Mercury Lounge, Rodeo Bar, and ABC No Rio. Their brand new album is entitled CURTAINS and is available now on CD, cassette, and all your favorite streaming sites.

Siewert’s cinematography work can be seen in feature films Like Me, The Ranger, and Depraved as well as over a dozen short films and music videos. He has animated music videos for Panda Bear, Lewis Del Mar, and Sonic Boom and his animation work has also been featured in campaigns for Marshall, Red Bull, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Adidas, and Champion. He is a four time Vimeo staff pick recipient and his first film The Past Inside the Present played at over 25 film festivals.

His personal work moves fluidly and seamlessly between live action and animation, as well as between narrative and experiential film. He is currently in post-production on his second film Appendectomy, an experimental drama about a young woman whose consciousness becomes untethered from her body while on hold with a collection agency.

Tom Laverack is one half of Just Desserts, a singer-songwriter, co-owner of Sojourn Records, and former social worker. Laverack has released four solo albums, he dabbles in writing prose and poetry, and is excellent at Excel.

Larry Fessenden (the other half) is an acclaimed independent film director, producer, actor, and the proprietor of the company Glass Eye Pix since 1985. He has been instrumental in producing, promoting, and launching the careers of a host of filmmakers including Ti West, Kelly Reichardt, and Jenn Wexler. Larry’s films include No Telling, Habit, Wendigo, The Last Winter, Depraved and Blackout, all of which feature Laverack’s music.”

Says Fessenden: “I’m not much of a musician but I’ve cherished my collaboration with Tom these last decades as an expression more direct than the filmwork I’m able to do. The new record took a while to put together. And then it was meaningful to engage James Siewert on a tangential mission to make this animation of a song of mine; it evoked an image that had been stuck in his own craw. That’s how we like to make things in our studio. I hope the video leads to interest in our album and in James Siewert’s expanding oeuvre. “

HORROR-COMEDY KEY OF BONES: CURSE OF THE GHOST PIRATE, FEATURE FILM ANNOUNCES  LEAD CAST AS IT PREPARES TO FILM IN KEY WEST: “Filmmaker and producer Tony Armer has announced the feature  film, Key of Bones: Curse of the Ghost Pirate, will be shot entirely in Key West, Florida, beginning  January 2026. To the production’s knowledge, this will be the first full-length feature filmed  entirely in Key West in recent memory. While Film and TV series occassionaly film a few scenes  in Key West, none have shot an entire feature film on location there in over 20 years.

The supernatural horror-comedy blends pirate mythology, ghost stories, and the eccentric island  energy that makes the Keys world-famous. The film follows a local waitress, ghost tour guide, and an unlucky tourist who accidentally awaken a ghostly curse tied to the legendary pirate  Anne Bonny, unleashing mayhem, mystery, and humor across Key West.

The production is proud to announce the attachment of its three lead actors and  cinematographer. Leading the cast is Gina Vitori as Mary, known for her standout performances  in The Salem Chronicles, Monster, and the hit Star Wars TV series Ahsoka. Melissa Chick stars as  Anne, bringing her acclaimed work from the Paramount+ series Landman and Lioness. Jeremy  King joins the cast as Christie, fresh off the cult-favorite Scare Package films on the horror  streaming platform Shudder, as well as his roles in Apple TV+’s Bad Monkey and Pirates of the  Caribbean. Brandon D. Hyde, a North Carolina–based cinematographer who previously worked  extensively in Tampa, brings his signature atmospheric visual style to Key of Bones: Curse of the  Ghost Pirate. Together, this ensemble brings genre credibility, rising-star talent, and cinematic  depth to the film’s unique blend of horror and comedy.

“I’ve always had a great affinity for Key West,” said Tony Armer. “I lived and worked in Marathon  years ago to make money for college, and I’ve attended and sponsored the Key West Film  Festival many times. I’ve built wonderful relationships in the Keys over the years, and it’s such a  unique and beautiful backdrop, so cinematic, that I wanted to bring it to the screen. This fun  horror-comedy film felt like the perfect avenue to do it.”

Tony Armer is an award-winning filmmaker, industry executive, and Head of Production for  Talon Entertainment. He is the co-founder of the Sunscreen Film Festival, which celebrated its  20th year in 2025, and Vice President of Film USA, the national association of U.S. film  commissions. A longtime industry leader and former Dallas and St. Petersburg–Clearwater Film

Commissioner, Armer’s films have been theatrically distributed and screened at festivals  worldwide, earning numerous awards and acclaim.

Filming & Local Involvement

The production will film entirely on location in Key West, showcasing the island’s iconic scenery  and local culture. Armer and his team are committed to hiring local crew and cast members from the Florida Keys.

Producing Partner iHorror

Anthony Pernicka, CEO and founder of iHorror, serves as a producer on Key of Bones: Curse of  the Ghost Pirate. This marks the first feature film produced under the iHorror banner, expanding  the brand’s influence beyond digital publishing and social media into film production.

“We’re thrilled to be part of this project,” said Pernicka. “Key of Bones perfectly captures the  kind of imaginative, fan-driven storytelling that iHorror audiences love. Bringing that energy to a  full-length film shot in such an iconic place like Key West is incredibly exciting.”

iHorror is one of the world’s largest and most recognizable genre entertainment platforms,  reaching more than 100 million fans monthly through its website, newsletters, and massive  social media following. Known for its mix of news, trailers, reviews, and original content, iHorror  has become a go-to destination for genre fans and filmmakers alike.

Watch the Short Film THE ITCH: “A psychological sci-fi horror story about a young man who awakens in an unfamiliar apartment only to find himself under surveillance… and decaying rapidly. He relies on an enigmatic set of vaccines he discovers in the bathroom to slow his decline, but quickly plots revenge on his unseen watcher as his condition continues to deteriorate.

Equal parts character study and nightmare, The Itch uses slow-burn tension and medical imagery to chart the man’s disintegration — emotionally and physically. The film explores the fears we all have of death and how far we’ll go to cheat it. Of how grief can illuminate the value of life. And how science can never succeed without the guardrails of our humanity.”

Director’s Statement from Gordon Phillips: “Drawing on my love for psychological horror, sci-fi, and visual storytelling, I set out to make a film that forces the audience to confront the unseen and the unknowable. In The Itch, the apartment becomes its own character — a place that traps and transforms, mirroring the protagonist’s slow collapse. My hope is that the film leaves viewers unsettled, questioning the nature of this “distorted reality and the desperate, often self-destructive lengths we’ll go to in order to escape our own suffering — mental or physical.”

Surreal Horror Texas Nightmare Makes Its Streaming Premiere: “Texas Nightmare, the anticipated horror feature from writer-director Michael Merino (Clutch, Acceleration), is now available on platforms including Amazon, Apple TV, and Shudder, after gaining significant attention on the festival circuit over the past few months. The film blends psychological horror with David Lynch–inspired surrealism.

The film stars Sadie Katz (Clutch) and Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), with performances from James Pratt (Eyes of Salt), Lew Temple (The Walking Dead), Randy Charach (Vanished), Eva Hamilton (Black Mass), and Rufus Dorsey (Pearl Harbor).

The story follows Angela DuBois (Katz), a novelist who retreats to a secluded home in the Texas Hill Country to finish her latest book. What begins as a peaceful escape quickly descends into chaos as she finds herself in a deadly confrontation with a dangerous cult hidden deep in the wilderness.

The film made its debut at the Hollywood Horror International Festival in October where Katz earned the Best Actress award for her gripping performance. Texas Nightmare also secured Best Director at the Los Angeles Fantasy Fest in November building the anticipation ahead of its release.

Written and directed by Merino, the film is produced by Merino and Randy Charach (The Fanatic). Katz and Rose also serve as co–executive producers expanding their involvement beyond their acting roles. The film was shot in Los Angeles in fall 2024.

With strong momentum heading into its release, Texas Nightmare offers a potent mix of psychological horror, cult-driven terror, and captivating performances positioning it as a must-see for fans of the genre.

Texas Nightmare is now streaming on Amazon, Apple TV, and Shudder among others.”

ARROW VIDEO December 2025 Lineup: “Arrow Video has announced the December 2025 lineup for their subscription-based ARROW platform, available to subscribers in the US, Canada, the UK and Ireland.

The ARROW December 2025 lineup features a new 4K restoration of The House with Laughing Windows. While typically famed for its lurid Technicolor hues and grand guignol murders, the Italian giallo thriller had a less bombastic side as well. Erring less towards exploitation than to art, these lesser-seen gems offer some of the greatest rewards for adventurous viewers. Among them, 1976’s The House with Laughing Windows, directed and co-written by Pupi Avati (Zeder), rises up as the cream of the crop. Often counted among the greatest gialli ever made, The House with Laughing Windows offers a uniquely eerie twist on the genre, culminating in an unforgettable ending that will remain with you long after the credits have rolled.
