Good Madam was one of the films at TIFF 2021 that managed to leave a big mark. Everyone who had seen the film was left with that feeling of churning dread. Good Madam’s trailer alredy begins to work some of that thriller magic on its viewer. But, it only dips its toe in the river that is much more of a flood of terror once you experinece the entirity of the film.
The synopsis for Good Madam goes like this:
In Good Madam, Tsidi, a single mother, is forced to move in with her estranged mother Mavis, a live-in domestic worker caring obsessively for her catatonic white ‘Madam’ in an affluent Cape Town suburb. As Tsidi tries to heal her family however, a sinister specter begins to stir.
The film stars Chumisa Cosa, Nosipho Mtebe, Kamvalethu Jonas Raziya, Sanda Shandu, Khanyiso Kenqa, Sizwe Ginger Lubengu, Siya Sikawuti, Peggy Tunyiswa and Chris Gxalaba, who all share writing credits with Bass and Babalwa Baartman.
Good Madam arrives on Shudder beginning July 14.
