THR reports that director, Rhys Frake-Waterfield is going to dig a bit further into making childhood properties into unsettling horror takes. His film, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey may get a Peter Pan follow-up.
Waterfield is currently writing a sequel for Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey while also working on Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare. It would seem that this would be lawsuit city. But, it appears both Pooh and Pan are public domain.
The synopsis for Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey goes like this:
“Serving as a horror retelling of A. A. Milne and E. H. Shepard’s Winnie-the-Pooh books, the film concerns the two anthropomorphic characters Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet as they now become bloodthirsty serial killers going on a murderous rampage after Christopher Robin abandons them for college.“
For those interested, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey will have a special one-night-only Fathom Events screening on February 15.
We can’t wait to find out more about Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare. We will be sure to let you know when we do. In the meantime, what do you think about Pooh and Pan receiving horror takes?
