Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones, Mama) could be heading into another supernatural project.
According to Daniel Richtman’s Patreon, the actor is set to star in MGM+’s television adaptation of the horror podcast The Black Tapes.
Created by Paul Bae and Terry Miles, the podcast follows journalist Alex Reagan as she investigates the work of paranormal researcher Dr. Richard Strand, a skeptic determined to debunk supernatural phenomena. The problem? He has a collection of cases he hasn’t been able to explain, and investigating those mysteries draws the pair into something much bigger.
This one has been working its way toward television for a while. Dread Central reported on an earlier adaptation in development at NBC back in 2018, with Emerald City co-creator Matthew Arnold attached. It’s unclear whether anyone from that incarnation remains involved in the reported MGM+ project.
Richtman’s report doesn’t identify Coster-Waldau’s character or include a premiere date. For now, the casting and MGM+ involvement remain reported news rather than an official announcement.
