Two of Nicolas Cage‘s biggest action movies are getting new home-video editions this holiday season. One was released in the 1990s, while the other arrived in the 2000s and helped establish Cage as an action star. He played an alternate version of Man of Steel in the 2023 film The Flash.
Con Air and National Treasure, both featuring Cage, will hit 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray SteelBook on November 10. National Treasure will also launch 4K Ultra HD Digital that same day. Meanwhile, Con Air previously received a 4K digital release last year.
Directed by Simon West and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Con Air remains a hallmark of ’90s blockbuster cinema. Released in 1997, the R-rated action thriller follows Cameron Poe, a former Army Ranger who becomes trapped aboard a prison transport plane after criminals take over the aircraft. It received two Oscar nominations.
Seven years later in 2004, Cage and Bruckheimer again collaborated for National Treasure. Jon Turteltaub directed the PG-rated action film, which follows historian and cryptologist Benjamin Franklin Gates as he takes on a quest for a hidden treasure linked to American history.
The new 4K releases bring more details and bonus features for fans
Both films are newly restored in crisp 4K visual quality alongside immersive Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision audio. The upgrades provide improved picture and sound quality for home viewing.
In addition to these upgrades, the National Treasure Steelbook edition will include a 4K UHD disc with bonus commentary from director Jon Turteltaub and co-star Justin Bartha. The release also marks the first time the film is available in 4K UHD physical format.
Meanwhile, Con Air includes a Blu-ray with the bonus features “A View from Above” and “The Destruction of Las Vegas.” It also comes with a digital code alongside the 4K UHD disc.
While these release on November 10, Cage will appear in Madden and Fortitude, with both set to release in theaters later this year.
