In a surprise piece of news, a new Longlegs movie has been announced, and is in the works with a brand new studio and some new information.
What do we know about the new Longlegs movie?
According to a new report from THR, Osgood Perkins is working on a brand new Longlegs movie, but it won’t be with distributor Neon. This time, the new Longlegs movie will be a partnership between Perkins and Paramount Pictures, who has picked up the rights to the new movie.
While little is known about the new movie, THR notes that it will not be a sequel, but instead something else “set in the Longlegs universe.” Most importantly, Nicolas Cage will be returning to the film, and star in the movie as Longlegs, the enigmatic and mysterious serial killer. Cage will also serve as a producer on the film. It’s unclear if Maika Monroe, who starred alongside Cage in the movie as FBI agent Lee Harker, will reprise her role.
Originally released in 2024, Longlegs was written and directed by Perkins, and followed the story of Harker, an FBI agent with slightly clairvoyant powers, who is tasked with helping track down the mysterious serial killer Longlegs.
The movie was a smash hit, particularly due to its incredibly praised marketing that featured an entire ARG from Neon. The movie earned $128 million against just a $10 million budget, becoming Neon’s highest-grossing film domestically, the highest-grossing independent film of the year, and Perkin’s highest-grossing film of his career to date.
