Comedian Stavros Halkias has returned to Netflix with his second solo stand-up special, Stavros Halkias: Uncle Stav, which arrived on the streaming platform today, September 8, 2026.
Directed by Matt Johnson, the hour-long special was taped at The Lyric in Halkias’ hometown of Baltimore, Maryland. Fresh off becoming an uncle in real life, Halkias uses his new family role to deliver social commentary on the healthcare system, aging, and the pitfalls of living a best life as a self-described “dirtbag” role model.
Per Netflix Tudum, the show’s official synopsis reads, “Fresh off becoming an uncle this year, Stavros Halkias is back for his second Netflix special, Uncle Stav. With the same unruly charm he exuded in Fat Rascal, Stavros has a little more wisdom to pass down this time around, proving you can be both a dirtbag and a role model at the same time.”

The comedy show explores the potential risks that come with trying to live the best life. Halkias draws on his new role as an uncle for jokes and self-deprecating humor. Netflix has rated the special TV-MA, making it intended for mature audiences.
Uncle Stav marks a rapid reunion between Halkias and Matt Johnson following their collaboration on A24’s biographical feature Tony, which arrived in theaters earlier this summer.
Directed by Johnson, Tony featured Dominic Sessa as a 19-year-old Anthony Bourdain working as a dishwasher and prep cook in Provincetown, Massachusetts, during the summer of 1975. Halkias co-starred as Stavros, a line worker at the seafood restaurant.
The film earned strong reviews for both Johnson’s direction and Sessa’s performance with critical acclaim across platforms like IMDb and Letterboxd. It was rated 7.6/10 on IMDb and 3.8/5 on Letterboxd.
Stavros Halkias: Uncle Stav is now streaming globally on Netflix.
