Noah Wyle has gone back to his medical show roots, starring in the HBO Max series The Pitt. With each episode covering one hour of a day shift, Wyle plays Dr. Robinavitch, who struggles to cope with the trauma that follows working in a Pittsburgh hospital’s emergency department. While filming the show’s second season, the American actor was completely blindsided by the huge honor he received.
HBO‘s The Pitt is one of the most realistic medical dramas out there. During the season’s 15-hour-long shift, we see the stress, exhaustion, and trauma that come from working in the ER. With positive critical acclaim and being considered 2025’s Emmys top contender, the medical drama has been renewed for season two.
TV Guide says that season two filming has commenced with expectations for a January 2026 release. Season two will also cover the “day in the life” format and take place 10 months after the season one finale, during the Fourth of July. With July 4th being one of the busiest ER days, we can expect a lot of extreme medical cases.
Noah Wyle will be returning as Dr. “Robby” as well as one of the executive producers and writers. While the ER actor wrote two episodes for the first season, season two will have him write four episodes and even direct one.
