Securely holding onto her “Scream Queen” title, she is adding a 14th production to the list with “Southern Scares,” from writer and director Paul Rowe as her 290th film and TV Movie credit (not including TV series credits). In the tradition of Stephen King, “Southern Scares” is a nostalgic odd to the nostalgia of tradition suspense, with a majority of the film being shot on location in a VHS store from the 90s.
Synopsis – “Southern Scares” follows Ellen, a skeptical college student who discovers a mysterious box of VHS tapes containing episodes of a never-aired 1990s horror documentary hosted by her missing sister Roberta. Wallace portrays Myra, a haunting, enigmatic figure who appears to exist outside of time, an ethereal gatekeeper to the supernatural heart of the Springer Opera House. She exudes the grace and poise of a bygone era, but beneath her genteel demeanor lies a woman bound by regret and secrets. As a self-appointed tour guide who may or may not be a ghost herself, Myra delivers a chilling exposition with unsettling composure, guiding our characters (and the audience) deeper into a spiritual underworld and history of the historic Springer Opera House.
