Reba McEntire was a married woman when she met actor Rex Linn. In fact, she was on her second marriage. She married Narvel Blackstock in 1989. Her previous marriage to Charlie Battles ended in 1987. The “Fancy” singer met Rex Linn when they starred together in the 1991 movie The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw.
They remained friends and she divorced Narvel Blackstock in 2015. Rex Linn and Reba McEntire reconnected in 2020 when she guest-starred on Young Sheldon. Their first date was right before the world shut down due to the COVID-19 outbreak. They stayed in touch through texts and FaceTime until it was safe to see each other again in person.
Rex Linn proposed on Christmas Eve 2024. However, they kept the news to themselves until September 2025. So, why haven’t they tied the knot yet?

While Reba McEntire has been married twice before, her fiance has never been married before. Television viewers love their chemistry together. Rex Linn and the singer starred on Season 3 of ABC’s Big Sky in 2022. Now, they’re co-stars on NBC’s Happy’s Place. Despite spending nearly every waking hour together, the couple hasn’t tied the knot yet.
E! News caught up with Reba McEntire at NBCUniversal’s Backlot Pass event and asked what the holdup is. The simple answer is: work. “We’re just waiting until we have an open spot to have the wedding. Get it planned and print those invitations,” she said. The couple is eager to marry but hasn’t found time in their busy schedules yet.
When they do, their Happy’s Place co-star, Melissa Peterman, has the wedding cake handled. “I will bake her wedding cake. I got to start because that’s going to be a lot. I would make her wedding cake,” she told PEOPLE magazine in March. “And I will do a banana pudding, Nilla Wafer. I’ll make a bride and groom on the top out of Nilla Wafers, which she’ll love. I will do it. I’m in!”
