The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 1 Episode 9’s Connor-Heavy Vampire Hour Is Another Delight

Vampires have been teased all season long, so it was only a matter of time before The Librarians: The Next Chapter finally delivered the fangs.

The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 1 Episode 9 brought Connor face-to-face with the undead at a vampire convention — because, of course, that’s where this show would go next — and the results were unexpectedly charming, a little dangerous, and full of that classic Librarians energy.

Connor has always been the team’s resident curiosity machine, a guy who wants to poke every magical artifact and investigate every sketchy creature, even if it might kill him.

This time, his lack of self-preservation landed him in trouble with Peter, a vampire who looked like bad news on arrival but somehow managed to lower Connor’s guard.

Credit to the show for making Peter feel like more than a one-dimensional villain. He was suave, unsettling, and had just enough humanity to keep things interesting.

In fact, for a brief moment, it seemed like the series might go all-in and make Connor a vampire. It would’ve been a bold move — maybe too bold — but one that would’ve shifted the stakes in a major way.

Connor becoming the very thing he was so eager to study? That would’ve been poetic, if a little horrifying.

The Librarians: The Next Chapter Has an Upbeat Tone

The eventual takedown of Peter was fun, even if it felt a little too clean. The Librarians always find a clever way to solve their magical problems, but when you’re dealing with creatures that feed on blood and live for centuries, a slightly grittier ending might’ve been warranted.

Still, the action worked, the pacing was solid, and the stakes were clear, even if they could’ve been sharper (pun intended).

One of the episode’s highlights was its self-aware vampire commentary.

The nods to Twilight and The Vampire Diaries — and how those franchises reshaped the public image of vampires — were pitch perfect. The Librarians knows its audience, and it knows how to have fun while still weaving in relevant lore.

As always, the real strength of the show lies in its character dynamics. Connor’s thirst for knowledge (and near-death experiences) might be entertaining, but it also raises questions about boundaries and safety.

There’s a sense that he learned something from his ordeal with Peter, but whether it sticks is anyone’s guess. He talks like someone who’s learned a lesson, but let’s be real: if another mysterious creature crosses his path, he’s going to follow it without thinking twice.

This might be a good time for Vikram to step up and set some actual ground rules.

Right now, the only clear directive seems to be “keep the Library a secret,” but that’s not exactly enough when your team is running into vampires, witches, and who knows what on a weekly basis.

Can the Team Survive Under Vikram’s Rule?

The team needs structure. And if Vikram can’t provide it, maybe someone else should.

Enter Charlie.

Week after week, Charlie proves herself to be the team’s backbone. She’s calm, measured, and consistently puts the mission first. Plus, she’s a total badass in hand-to-hand combat.

If leadership were based on instinct and results alone, she’d already have the title. The only thing holding her back is confidence.

She doesn’t see herself as the leader — yet. But with the right push, she could easily grow into that role and guide the team into its next chapter (pun fully intended).

Vikram, meanwhile, continues to bottle up the emotional fallout of being ripped from his old life and tossed into the future. You can feel the weight of it, even when he’s smiling through the chaos.

There’s something simmering under the surface, and it feels like the show is building toward a decision point for him. If he gets a shot at the happy ending he never thought possible, will he take it? Or will duty win out?

Lysa’s subplot this week added another emotional layer. Her last-minute decision not to sell the castle was surprising, especially since she seemed so eager to walk away.

But she’s found a purpose with this group that she didn’t know she was missing. Her world used to be linear, predictable.

Now, it’s unpredictable and magical and maybe even meaningful. She belongs, even if she hasn’t fully admitted it to herself.

Explosive Season Finale Theory

There’s also the lingering mystery around Gregor and Anya. The show hasn’t forgotten them, and I’d bet good money that Gregor will resurface in the finale with a wild plan involving Anya’s resurrection — and Lysa’s body.

A twisted love story and a trip to Paris takes center stage on The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 1 Episode 4.
(Aleksandar Letic/TNT)

That’s where things could get really messy, especially if Vikram has to choose between saving a teammate and confronting the past he’s tried to bury.

With just three episodes left, The Librarians: The Next Chapter is poised to bring its loose threads together for a magical (and emotional) finale.

We’ve seen the fun. We’ve seen the danger. Now it’s time for the choices that matter — and the consequences that come with them.

What are your thoughts on the episode? What do you think will happen next?
