“Oh, we need to build up a very strong connection…” Netflix has unveiled the first look teaser trailer for Bradley Cooper’s highly anticipated new movie Maestro, starring Bradley Cooper and Carey Mulligan. This is premiering first at the 2023 Venice Film Festival in just a few weeks, the same place where Cooper premiered his feature directorial debut A Star Is Born in 2018 (here’s our review). Maestro is a “towering love story” chronicling the lifelong relationship between Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein. A love letter to life and art, Maestro at its core is an emotionally epic portrayal of family and love. Co-written by, produced by, directed by, and starring Cooper, this movie is very much a love letter to the beloved American conductor, composer, pianist, music educator, and humanitarian. In addition to Cooper & Mulligan, it also stars Matt Bomer, Maya Hawke, Sarah Silverman, Josh Hamilton, Scott Ellis, Gideon Glick, Sam Nivola, Alexa Swinton, and Miriam Shor. This is very lovely first teaser trailer, which of course reminds me of Tar, though I think this will be an entirely different movie. Listen in.
