Fake Exorcist Action Comedy ‘Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman’ Full Trailer
“Things like these can’t be destroyed by ordinary means.” CJ Entertainment in Korea has debuted two new official trailers for a horror comedy action thriller called Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman, also known as Dr. Cheon’s Exorcism Lab: The Secret of Seolgyeong. The film is a supernatural satire based on a webcomic known as “Possession” originally published in 2014. It tells the story of Dr. Cheon, a fake exorcist who can’t hear or see ghosts but solves all types of cases with his ghostly insight. He receives a contract for a powerful possession case that turns out to be a real encounter with a malevolent spirit. This isn’t just a supernatural flick, there’s tons of action and comedy as well. The film stars Gang Dong-won as Dr. Cheon, with Huh Joon-ho, Esom, Lee Dong-hwi, Kim Jong-soo, and Park Soi. This looks like it leans heavily on VFX, akin to something like Ghostbusters with a big spiritual showdown at the end. I’m curious, could be some wacky fun. Opens very soon in Korea, though there’s still no US release date yet. Who wants to watch this?
Here’s two official trailers (+ poster) for Kim Seong-sik’s Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman, on YouTube:
Dr. Cheon (Gang Dong-Won) runs a YouTube exorcism channel with In-Bae (Lee Dong-Hwi). Believing that he is dealing with people’s minds rather than ghosts, he performs fake exorcisms on people. One day, he meets a new client named Yoo-Kyung (Esom). Yoo-Kyung asks Dr. Cheon Cheon to save her possessed younger sibling. Based on webcomic series “Bingui” written by Huretsha & illustrated by Kim Hong-Tae (published on Naver). Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman, originally known as 천박사 퇴마 연구소: 설경의 비밀 in Korean (or the working title Possession), is directed by Korean filmmaker Kim Seong-sik, a VFX artist and art director on a segment in The Animatrix previously. No other writers are listed, other than the creators of the webcomic. CJ Entertainment will release Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman in cinemas in Korea starting on September 27th, 2023. No other international release dates are set – stay tuned for more. Looking good?
