First Trailer for Godfrey Reggio’s Fantasy Film ‘Once Within a Time’

Oscilloscope Labs has revealed an official trailer for Once Within a Time, a mesmerizing fantasy thriller from the incredible mind of filmmaker Godfrey Reggio. This is his first narrative feature after making iconic docs for years. Celebrated director Godfrey Reggio (of the Koyaanisqatsi trilogy) returns after ten years with a new experimental film unlike any other from his already daring career: a bardic fairy tale about the end of the world and the beginning of a new one, tinged with apocalyptic comedy, rapturous cinematography, unforgettable vistas, and the innocence and hopes of a new generation. With an electrifying score composed by Reggio’s longtime collaborator Philip Glass with additional vocals from Sussan Deyhim, and co-directed by veteran editor and filmmaker Jon Kane, Once Within a Time is the indie revelation of the year. Let’s go, Godfrey! It’s also executive produced by Steven Soderbergh & Alexander Rodnyansky. Premiering in MoMA’s film series Total Cinema of Sight & Sound: Godfrey Reggio & Philip Glass, before playing in theaters in October. A must watch first look – whoa.

Once Within a Time is directed by acclaimed American experimental filmmaker Godfrey Reggio, director of the docs Koyaanisqatsi, Powaqqatsi, Naqoyqatsi, and Visitors previously, along with a few shorts and music videos. It’s also co-directed by his fellow editor / filmmaker Jon Kane. Produced by Mara Campione.
