“They found something out there… something buried in the cold.” Black Mandala has revealed a trailer for an indie horror film from Canada called Blood & Snow, the latest from genre filmmaker Jesse Palangio. That is a remarkably generic title for this horror film, which also just seems like a sort of remake/remix of The Thing, with a similar premise. Two scientists uncover a meteorite impact site in the Arctic tundra, but it kills one scientist and infects the other. A nearby base takes in the lone survivor whilst trying to understand what happened. The lone survivor may not be the person they think she is. Of course not, have they ever seen The Thing – any three of the movies? Blood & Snow stars Simon Phillips, Vernon Wells, Anne-Carolyne Binette, Blake Canning, Michael Swatton, & Brianna Ripley. It has played at a few genre fests already, starting at HorrorHound in Cincinnati, and it’s still waiting to get a final US release date set.
Here’s the first official trailer (+ poster) for Jesse Palangio’s Blood & Snow, direct from YouTube:
“Don’t capture what you can’t keep.” Two scientists uncover a meteorite impact site in the Arctic tundra, but it kills one scientist and infects the other. A nearby base takes in the lone survivor whilst trying to understand what happened. The lone survivor may not be the person they think she is. Blood & Snow is directed and DPed by Canadian genre filmmaker Jesse Palangio, making his second feature after directing the film Monster Pool: Chapter Five previously, plus a few other short films. The screenplay is written by Rossa McPhillips and Simon Phillips. Produced by Mem Ferda. It first premiered at the 2023 HorrorHound Film Festival and Haunted House FearFest Film Festival. Black Mandala Films will debut Palangio’s Blood & Snow in select theaters sometime later this year. Stay tuned for more release updates. Who’s intrigued?
