Official US Trailer for Chinese Action Thriller ‘Blasting’ with Zhong Lei

“You’ll have two choices.” What are they?! Well Go USA has revealed an official US trailer for Blasting, a Chinese action thriller that is finally available to watch on VOD in the US. This first opened in 2022 in China during the pandemic under the original title Life and Death Blast. A series of explosions mirror a past case from 8 years ago, prompting a joint investigation between SWAT and the Criminal Investigation Bureau. The film is adapted from the real life experiences of the original characters. It tells the story of how Qiu Jie, captain of the criminal police team of the “serious crime squad”, and Xu Zhongmin, the leader of the bomb disposal team, used their flesh & blood to build a “Great Wall of Steel” to save the entire city in the face of an explosion crisis. Starring Ken Lok, Crazybarby Leni Lan, Bai Haito, and Zhong Lei. Written and directed by Wang Xiao Long. This looks exceptionally cheesy, especially the big red countdown bombs in it.

After an explosion in Binhai City, SWAT leader Xu Zhongmin discovers a link to a failed bombing case from eight years ago. Teaming up with investigator Qiu Jie, he seeks answers as past criminals resurface and the truth behind the chaos unfolds. Who is behind all of this? A joint investigation between SWAT and Criminal Investigation Bureau. Blasting, originally known as 生死爆破 in Mandarin (or Life and Death Blast), is written and directed by Chinese filmmaker Wang Xiaolong, making his feature directorial debut with this action film. It’s also produced by Wang Xiao Long. Made by iQIYI Pictures. This originally debuted in China in November 2022 a few years ago. Well Go USA will debut Wang Xiao Long’s Blasting direct-to-VOD in the US starting October 29th, 2024 this fall. It’s currently available to watch now. Anyone into it?
