Johnny Depp has brought Ebenezer to New York. The actor channels Scrooge’s hatred of Christmas to the NY streets in a new series of videos and images. Dressed as the iconic character, Depp made a surprise appearance at Bryant Park, where he disrupted the early holiday celebrations.
In a clip shared by the official Ebenezer X account, Depp’s Scrooge is standing in front of a choir who are singing Christmas carols. He then interrupts them by yelling, “Shut up!” and staying in character throughout the appearance. The actor also disrupted many other activities.
In another video, Santa Claus told the character, “You’re not a nice person.” This was then followed by a woman serving Scrooge free cookies. However, Depp’s character picked up the cookies and began tossing them on the ground. Apart from these stunts, the character also tore down garlands, kicked aside nutcrackers and Christmas gnomes, and toppled a Christmas tree.
