The new Victorian Psycho trailer has arrived. It gives a haunting preview of Maika Monroe‘s next horror role following It Follows and Longlegs. The minute-and-a-half teaser showcases a dark, gothic mystery filled with unhinged suspense and bloody secrets ahead of its theatrical debut.
Directed by Zachary Wigon, this psychological horror-thriller is inspired by Virginia Feito’s acclaimed novel (which has the same name). The plot is set in the year 1858, when Winifred starts getting paranoid due to mysterious disappearances on the estate. It includes elements of psychological horror, black comedy, and mystery in its plotline, along with themes of insanity, gender roles, and women’s position in Victorian society.
Alongside Monroe, the cast features Jason Isaacs, Ruth Wilson, Thomasin McKenzie, Jacobi Jupe, and Evie Templeton. Victorian Psycho will hit U.S. theaters on September 25, 2026.

What the Victorian Psycho trailer reveals about the film’s twisted story
In the trailer, viewers are introduced to Winifred’s charming, polite facade before the footage quickly reveals the sinister violence beneath her pleasant demeanor.
It contains scenes with creepy corridors, blood, scary behavior of Winifred, and a few violent shots. Nonetheless, the creators do not give any plot spoilers in the footage; they simply make people scared and excited about the movie through a gothic atmosphere and psychological elements.
Monroe underwent a distinct physical transformation for the role, donning a wig, artificial teeth, and adopting a subtle Northern English accent. The actor also revealed that her unhinged performance was heavily inspired by Jack Nicholson’s portrayal in The Shining.
Filmed at a historic estate in Ireland, director Wigon prioritized practical sets to capture an authentic 19th-century aesthetic, paired with an unsettling original score composed by Ariel Marx.
Victorian Psycho attempts to blend the genres of gothic horror, dark comedy, and psychological thriller. The trailer gives just enough information to create some doubts about Winifred while keeping her true motives shrouded in mystery until the movie is released.
