Based on the webtoon of the same name written and illustrated by Yaongyi, True Beauty is a South Korean romantic comedy series. The plot revolves around Lim Ju-kyung, a young woman who has been perceived as unattractive most of her life and treated horribly by her family and peers. An aspiring cosmetologist, she begins using make-up after she is transferred to a new school and suddenly finds herself drawing the attention of her classmates. Season one originally aired on tvN between December 9, 2020, and February 4, 2021. If you are wondering whether there will be a second season, we’ve got you covered.
Here’s all we know about True Beauty Season 2 and whether or not it’s coming out.
Is there a True Beauty Season 2 release date?
True Beauty Season 2 does not have an official release date, but it can be announced in the future.
As of December 2023, True Beauty hasn’t been renewed for the second season. South Korean shows, or East Asian TV series in general, often don’t have more than one season. Most of the important plot threads are tied up by the end of the inaugural season, so there is rarely any need for a second season. However, True Beauty might be one of the exceptions.
As mentioned above, the series is based on the namesake manhwa, which began publishing on April 2, 2018, and continued long after season one ended, finally drawing to a conclusion on June 28, 2023. A prospective second season can explore the chapters beyond those covered by season one. While there have been unconfirmed reports that a second season is in the works, nothing has been officially announced yet. ComingSoon will provide an update if and when season 2 is officially greenlit.
The cast includes Moon Ga-young as Lim Ju-kyung, Cha Eun-woo as Lee Su-ho, Hwang In-youp as Han Seo-jun, Park Yoo-na as Kang Su-jin, Jang Hye-jin as Hong Hyun-sook, Park Ho-san as Lim Jae-pil, Im Se-mi as Lim Hee-kyung, Kim Min-gi as Lim Ju-young, and more.
The official synopsis for True Beauty reads:
“Lim Ju-kyung is a high school student. Since she was little, she has had a complex about her appearance. To hide her bare face, Ju-kyung always wears make-up. Her excellent make-up skills make her pretty and she hides her bare face in front of others. She gets involved with 2 men; Lee Su-ho and Han Seo-jun.”
