Niecy Nash and her wife Jessica Betts had a major miscommunication early on in their relationship — but it turned into a sweet matching tattoo.
When the couple first met a few years ago, Niecy says that Jessica asked her about her “real name,” as Niecy is actually a stage name.
“I know that everybody knows Niecy Nash but what is your name? She said Carol, but I thought I heard her say Cora,” Jessica explained during an appearance on the Tamron Hall Show.
And not only did Jessica misunderstand the name, but she ended up calling her Cora instead of Carol for TWO YEARS!
“I was calling her Cora for almost two years. One day, she said, ‘Why do you call me Cora?’ And I was like, ‘That’s your name!'” Jessica said.
Niecy responded, “No, it’s not! I thought it was something that the cool kids called each other in New York on the street!”
She continued, “I was like, ‘My name is not Cora!’ She was like, ‘It is now!'”
Thankfully, the couple has been able to joke about the whole thing — and they actually got matching tattoos dedicated to the mistake.
Jessica inked “Cora” on her neck while Niecy opted for “Mrs. Cora Betts” tattooed on her thigh.
And in case you’re wondering — yes, Jessica still calls her Cora!
