Fans who have followed the show since the beginning know how difficult this journey has been for the TLC star. There were many times when she felt like giving up and experienced many setbacks. It took a lot of time, energy, and effort, but Tammy is on the right track as of 2024. Now, she shares positive messages with her online followers.

1000-Lb Sisters Preview: Tammy Slaton Impresses Everyone On The Scale
When 1000-Lb Sisters first began, many weren’t sure Tammy Slaton had the willpower or drive to lose the weight necessary for bariatric surgery. But through hard work and determination, she met and exceeded her goals. Skin removal surgery is next on her list — she just needs her medical team’s approval.
In a preview for the new season, Tammy met up with Dr. Eric Smith to go over her health and progress. Dr. Smith congratulated his patient and expressed excitement that Tammy no longer required her wheelchair.
“At my rock bottom, I was weighing about 725 lbs,” the TLC star revealed in a confessional. “The last time I saw Dr. Smith was about nine months ago and I was around 420 lbs. He told me I had to lose 100 lbs. before my next appointment. I’m extremely nervous.”
Tammy knew she needed to weigh in at about 320 lbs in order to move to the next step. Much to everyone’s surprise, the scale read 303.8 lbs.
Dr. Smith had just one word — “unbelievable.”
Of course, Tammy couldn’t be prouder of herself.
“I surpassed Dr. Smith’s goal, my goal, all the goals! I’m so ready for skin removal!” she excitedly declared.
Dr. Smith Praises His Patient To The Media
As the new season of 1000-Lb Sisters continues, Dr. Smith spoke with PEOPLE about Tammy Slaton’s progress.
“I was absolutely thrilled for Tammy and incredibly proud of her progress, but not surprised,” the bariatric surgeon shared. “Tammy has consistently demonstrated her dedication to making sustainable lifestyle changes to maximize the benefits of her surgery. I’ve emphasized the importance of making small, daily adjustments to ensure not only her continued progress but also her long-term success. She’s truly committed to her health journey.”
Dr. Smith went on to add that Tammy hasn’t received skin removal surgery quite yet. However, he admitted he felt confident she would be ready before long.
