Dancing With the Stars saw its first guest judge of Season 35 in Joe Buck. However, fans did not care for the ESPN football commentator. They stated that his scores meant nothing, with some wanting him off the screen. Keep reading for more on what viewers had to say about Joe’s DWTS appearance.
Joe Buck Fails To Impress
There is a new and exciting theme every week on DWTS. Not everyone was thrilled about Super Bowl week, but it went on, with Joe Buck as the first guest judge. He is an ESPN football commentator, so it did make sense for him to participate. However, since he had no dance experience, viewers did not appreciate him scoring the dancers. At the same time, the show is about entertainment, improvement, and having fun, which sometimes gets lost in the sauce. Maybe they would have been happier with a former pro football player who had competed on the show, like Danny Amendola, Jerry Rice, or Emmitt Smith.

After Joe Buck made his appearance, fans of the show immediately headed to social media to slam him. They were incredibly harsh and gave him very little grace for coming into a world he was unfamiliar with:
- I have a mysterious deep seated hatred for Joe Buck. Get him off my screen
- Joe Buck as a judge on Dancing with the Stars is ridiculous
- Dear Joe Buck, Please don’t come on a dance show then go admit you know zero about dance. Your scores mean nothing. Sincerely, a #dwts & #nfl fan
- Please stop bringing on judges with NO dance experience!! A 9?! BFFR JOE BUCK!!!
It is understandable that viewers wanted someone who had some experience when judging. However, he fit the theme, so for that alone, it made sense.
Joe Has Some Fans
Despite the DWTS fans who could not stand Joe Buck, many appreciated what he brought to the table. They felt that he was having a great time as a judge and was doing his absolute best. Moreover, he gave out some high scores to those who deserved it and was very kind:
- Joe Buck on #dwts was like the fun uncle at Thanksgiving just handing out compliments to everyone
- i apologize to joe buck, he actually was great for a non-former pro guest judge… self-aware about his lack of knowledge, kept it short, sweet, consistent, respectful and didn’t make it about himself (gene and flav set the bar on the floor)
Hopefully, viewers can see that Joe was just doing the job that he was asked to do. Did you watch Super Bowl night, and finally, what were your thoughts on Joe Buck as a DWTS judge? Let us know in the comments below.
