Rachael Ray has shared her approach to healthy eating amid renewed public interest in her health. The celebrity chef recently offered advice for women experiencing menopause and explained why colorful foods feature in her diet.
The 58-year-old star contributed more than 50 recipes to Dr. Ian Smith’s cookbook, The New Menopause Kitchen. In an interview with People, she said, “I have no menopausal signs of any kind. My sister’s the same way. She’s 67. She never had them either. I’ve always had an easy time, just in life, when it comes to that kind of stuff.”
Ray said she follows her doctors’ advice on hormone replacement therapy and other health matters. She encouraged women to include a variety of colorful foods in their diets. Ray shared, “You eat lots of color in your diet, which means you’re getting lots of the right vitamins without the need for supplements. I do take supplements also.”
Rachael Ray & Husband John Cusimano Grow Seasonal Vegetables in Their Home Garden
Ray and her husband, John Cusimano, grow vegetables in four garden beds. They grow different vegetables throughout the year and use the fresh produce in their meals. Ray also described the vegetables growing in their garden that fall.
She said, “We grow everything. We have four garden beds and it depends on the season. This time of year, of course, we have all of the dark greens and all of our squash, all different sizes of orange squash, and zucchini is still there, eggplant’s still there.”
Ray also emphasized the importance of happiness and having a sense of purpose. She added, “I think that that’s a big part of life. Are you eating a colorful diet and are you happy? Do you try and get up with purpose every day? I think that helps everyone, male and female.”
Her latest comments come after a 2024 video sparked concern among some viewers about her appearance. Ray later revealed on her podcast, I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead, that she had experienced “a couple of bad falls” in recent weeks. In those comments, she did not attribute the falls to menopause.
