Joe Amabile is all about staying healthy. He underwent an elective whole-body MRI scan in July. TheBachelorette alum wasn’t expecting the scan to find anything. To his shock, doctors discovered a brain tumor that would have gone undiagnosed without the scan.
With Serena Pitt by his side, Joe Amabile had the tumor removed in August. It was a scary time for the couple already, but the doctors said that the surgery could possibly leave him paralyzed. But luckily that didn’t happen, and his recovery was smooth. He recently showed off his gnarly brain surgery scar.

Serena Pitt shared a story of wanting a divorce after Joe Amabile abandoned her. The two were discussing the recent phenomenon of “airport divorces.” Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos talked about the trend onLIVE with Kelly & Mark earlier this year.
An “airport divorce” is basically when couples separate at the airport, do their own thing, and then reunite on the plane. It reportedly prevents arguing and reduces the stress of travel. Joe Amabile revealed on the podcast that he prefers to get on the airplane as soon as boarding starts. His wife, on the other hand, prefers to board last.

Serena Pitt shared a story of her husband abandoning her and her luggage while she was in the bathroom so he could board the plane ASAP. “Joe and I are getting an airport divorce. And maybe a real divorce after what he did to me at the airport the other day,” the Bachelor In Paradise alum said. “I have not been this mad at you in a long time.”
“I walk out of the restroom to see my husband leaving me and all of my stuff,” Serena added. She said that he later apologized for abandoning her. What’s his side of the story?
“They’re ripping through boarding. They’re going so fast to where I’m panicking. I’m like, ‘Oh my God, they’re going to call group one and I’m not going to get on this flight and I’m not going to get my overhead storage,’” Joe Amabile explained to listeners. Since he was already in line, he boarded the plane as soon as he saw his wife come out of the bathroom. He didn’t wait for her to board.
