Wagner Moura has shared an exciting update on the production of the upcoming Ocean’s Eleven prequel. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor spilled the tea on when he will begin filming.
Warner Bros. Pictures has begun production on the highly anticipated prequel to Steven Soderbergh’s 2001 heist comedy Ocean’s Eleven, star Wagner Moura has confirmed. During his interview with THR, the actor shared that he is “very” excited to be transported back to 60s Monaco, where the prequel is set.
“They’re already shooting it,” Moura revealed, before explaining when he will begin filming alongside the film’s lead stars, Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper. “I’m doing a play [A Trial – after An Enemy of the People] here in Europe, and as soon as I wrap that, I’m going to join them,” Moura stated.
When asked if he is playing the villain, Moura remained tight-lipped. “I’m playing a part that I can’t really talk about, unfortunately,” the actor said.
Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper headline the 1960s-set Oceans story
The untitled Ocean’s Eleven prequel is currently in the works at Warner Bros. Pictures, with Bradley Cooper set to star and direct. He is joined by Margot Robbie, who stars alongside Wagner Moura and Monica Barbaro.
The prequel will center on a heist that takes place in 1962 Monaco. No further details about the plot or which character the actors will play have come to light yet. However, previous speculations suggest that Moura might be playing the main antagonist in the film. The Narcos star declined to elaborate on his role during his latest THR interview.
Cooper also serves as the producer alongside Robbie and her husband Tom Ackerley, who are producing via their LuckyChap banner. Principal production began in Paris in late July and will reportedly move to Nice and Monaco in August.
The Ocean’s Eleven prequel is scheduled for release on June 25, 2027.
