The View is celebrating its 30th season, but they’ll have to do it without Candace Cameron Bure. The former host refused the offer to return as a guest host. The Full House alum explained the surprising reason behind the decision. Keep reading for all the details.
The View Welcomes Back Former Hosts For Milestone Season
Barbara Walters’ legacy includes creating one of the first daytime talk shows with an all-female panel. The View premiered in 1997, and just kicked off Season 30 in September. Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin returned as the main hosts.

Former host Rosie O’Donnell revealed over the summer that she was in talks to return as a guest host. However, the show’s executive producer, Brian Teta, clarified that nothing was official yet. Rosie still hasn’t made an appearance on Season 30. However, several other former hosts have returned.
Lisa Ling, Sherri Shepherd, Star Jones, and Raven-Symoné were back at the Hot Topics table. OG host Debbie Matenopoulos stepped in to moderate the show after Joy Behar suffered a dislocated shoulder in a backstage fall. Joy is expected to return this week.
Candace Cameron Bure said in August that she would be open to returning for Season 30. However, she turned down the offer when The View reached out. Why?

Candace Cameron Bure Reveals Why She Refused Return Offer
Candace Cameron Bure joined Season 5 of Special Forces, which is currently airing on Fox. However, the reality competition was filmed months ago. The Hallmark actress has been open about the negative experience on The View. She told Vanity Fair in 2021 that she had “PTSD” from her short time as co-host.
Candace Cameron Bure was only on the show for Seasons 19 and 20. She left in 2016 to reprise her role as D.J. Tanner in Netflix’s Fuller House reboot. She was open to returning to The View just a few months ago. What changed?
She revealed the reason why she turned down the return offer, and it has nothing to do with her previous experience on the talk show. “They did reach out to me, and they offered me the week that my daughter gave birth,” she told Entertainment Weekly.

Candace Cameron Bure’s daughter, Natasha, welcomed her first child in early October. But that wasn’t the only new addition to the family. The Full House star became a first-time grandma just weeks earlier after her son, Lev, and his wife welcomed their first child.
The timing was off for Candace Cameron Bure to return to The View but she isn’t ruling out an appearance later in the season. “Yeah, you might see me at the table. We’ll see. I feel open to it if they offer up another date,” she told the outlet.
